AB  - The  Florida  Advanced  Technological  Education  Center  (FLATE),  the  National  Science  Foundation  Regional  Center  of  Excellence  for  Manufacturing  Education  used  the  National  Manufacturing  Day  initiative  to  stage  a  statewide  outreach  initiative  on  MFG  DAY  2013  on  October  4.  This  paper  will  outline  the  strategies  FLATE  used  to  get  a  number  of  different  stakeholder  groups  to  partner  with  each  other  regionally  to  support  the  “MFG  DAY  in  Florida  “Made  in  Florida”  Industry  tours  for  middle  and  high  school  students.    Working  with  regional  teams  across  the  state,  FLATE  coordinate  over  90  tours  for  nearly  2400  students.    The  MFG  DAY  in  Florida  had  companies  providing  lunches  for  students;  county  commissioners  making  local  MFG  DAY  proclamations;  professional  organizations  donating  for  commemorative  tee-­‐shirts,  school  districts  donating  bus  transportation,  and  FLATE  distributing  resources  and  surveys  for  students  attending  the  tours.    The  day  brought  national  attention  to  manufacturing  in  Florida,  showcasing  its  diversity  and  its  broad  reach.    This  paper  and  presentation  will  report  how  the  activities  were  coordinated;  lesson  learned  for  the  future;  and  share  the  results  of  student  surveys.
