Abstract

The Design of Coffee course (taught by chemical engineers) is a non-mathematical introduction to how engineers approach and solve problems, as illustrated by the process of roasting and brewing coffee. It is the most popular course on the UC Davis campus - over 1500 students take this course each year, the vast majority of these students being non-STEM majors.
