Active Learning for Engineering/Technical Graphics Online EnvironmentsThis paper will provide a brief history of traditional active learning and will also examine activelearning techniques that can be utilized for distance education. Some established online teachingand learning methods and strategies will also be discussed. Consideration of current online activelearning environments will follow. Hybrid courses have been taught since Fall 2007 at NorthCarolina State University in Technology, Engineering and Design Education. In light of thesecourses, there is an interest in ways to improve operative instruction in these courses. Thisreview of literature is the beginning step towards effective active learning strategies, processes, and procedures. The active learning strategies discussed will focus mainly on course content thatrelates to engineering/technical graphic courses in higher education settings.
