AB  -                           Benchmarking IE Programs: 2005-2015At the 2005 ASEE conference, Fraser reviewed 101 industrial engineering bachelors programs,by various descriptors (type of institution, number of faculty, name of the program) and by thecontent of their programs. That paper included conclusions such as:       “Over half of all IE faculty members (598) are in programs with 14 or fewer faculty       members.”       “While those outside our field may not have a clear conception of what industrial       engineering is, our programs show strong consensus about what courses should be       included in an industrial engineering program.”The 2005 paper also described unique features of some programs, such as unique requirements ingeneral education courses.This paper will update that study ten years later, including analysis of programs that have beenadded or ended, the size of programs, location by state, location in private or public institutions,and the names of programs. The analysis of required courses by content will also be repeated.What has changed and what has not changed?The paper will look for evidence of innovation in industrial engineering programs. Haveprograms changed to include, for example, more courses in information technology, leadershipand teamwork , advanced manufacturing techniques, and big data? The paper will also look forevidence of agreement among programs about courses that are included in industrial engineeringprograms.
