Abstract

HMD VR has been gradually introduced to the engineering classroom instruction in the recent years. However, inequitable phenomena (i.e., dominating behaviors) were recorded when students participated in learning activities under HMD VR environment. This purposed research will use a convergent parallel mixed methods approach to explore the design principles of an equal learning environment for students’ learning under HMD VR environment. Both quantitative and qualitative methods will be used to evaluate students’ experience and learning outcomes for two typical role settings of collaborative learning under HMD VR environment. The study is expected to not only contribute to the research field but also benefit different stakeholders in the engineering education systems.
