Philip Dunn is an Assistant Professor in the Construction Management Technology Program where he serves as the coordinator. He has been with UMaine for 10 years after working as a Civil Engineer with the Maine Department of Transportation for 20 years. He is very active in his community serving with several professional, fraternal, and civic organizations. He is a licensed engineer in Maine. He is married with 2 children

Abstract

Developing Across the Curriculum Examples to Use in the Construction Classroom The typical construction curriculum includes many varied subjects fromconstruction methodology through to project close-out. Students often are given manyexamples in these courses to understand concepts. However, the concepts from one subjectto another may or may not be consistent or align to one another. A consistent projectexample throughout the curriculum could help students better understand how variedsubjects actually tie in to one another to develop the construction project. This paper will explore some of the reasons consistent examples across thecurriculum could help student comprehension of the construction project progression.Further discussed will be an example used in our curriculum and how it is applied inseveral of our courses.
