AB  - Modern world is changing its shape in the conditions of globalization that influence all the spheres of human activities: industrial, scientific, economical, political, and educational. Development of new information technologies is breaking time and space boundaries and makes the process of communication and sharing information easy. All these changes cause the appearance of new demands for a person: he should be prepared to the life in the intercultural society, ready for intercultural dialogue and able to work in international environment.
Russian and foreign scholars state that the formation of this image is a complex process and can be gained through the implementation of cross-cultural education. Preparation of growing generation for life in intercultural environment has become one of the priority issues of the modern school. It was found that the most favorable period for the development of global mind-set and culturally sensitive features of global leaders is the high school. Bringing the functions of intercultural education into the class will result in understanding cultural diversity, developing skills in intercultural communication, positive attitude to the differences and arising respect and tolerance for the unfamiliar.
The article offers the main approaches to the formation of cross-cultural competency (CCC) of the students. Integration in the educational context is implemented in Russian high schools. This can be reached through including the elements of intercultural education in the context of such disciplines as Foreign Languages, History, Law, and STEM. In Russian literature this approach is called “module education”. In these conditions the teacher’s functions are reduced to informing and coordinating. 
It is important to note, that the similar cross-cultural approach is implemented in the American education. This system is targeted at cultural, cross-cultural global projects in engineering and business areas. Talented students from diverse national groups participate in international summer residential programs that comprise the course of lectures and project work. Cross-cultural competency is formed due to their practical experience they receive by plunging into the diverse environment.  
Consideration of the successful foreign experience is to be of great practical value for the Russian high school. Comparison of theoretical background and modern practical approaches that are used in the USA can bring the possibilities of creating of joint courses and promotion of the existing ones.
